East Hill Elementary's PTA recognizes the critical need for art education in our children's development. To further this development the PTA Art Docent Program provides students at East Hill Elementary with monthly art lessons and hands on art projects. These lesson's are taught by a team of dedicated parents and community volunteers. This program is a partnership between the East Hill PTA and the Interurban Center for the Arts at Green River Community College. The Art Docent Program is a not for profit outreach program that provides our team of volunteers with the training and materials to present high quality visual arts programs to East Hill Students. All the art lessons provided by our community volunteers are linked with the Art Standards for Education by the State of Washington.
Each classroom is assigned an Art Docent who then teaches art lessons based on art prints provided by Interurban Center for the Arts. The Art Docents then create a hands on art project based on the information gained from the art lesson. We also have a yearly Art Walk held in the Spring to display our school's art for the year.
The result of this program is East Hill Elementary students receive 50 - 70 art lessons throughout their tenure at East Hill Elementary.
